Lionel Messi was last night named FIFA men’s player of the year for a record sixth time, beating off competition from Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and old nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Argentine star can add the trophy to the various personal awards he's collected over the years – not to mention the mega silverware haul with Barcelona.
Barça ‘only’ added a Liga title to that list in 2018/19 – they were knocked out of the Champions League by Liverpool in dramatic fashion, then lost the Copa del Rey final to Valencia – but Messi’s performances were still enough to land him this prize.
Argentina’s Copa America journey this summer was disappointing, with Messi chipping in a couple of goals on the way to a tame semi-final defeat against hosts Brazil.
In fact, Messi has scored in 30 different games for club and country over the past 12 months – but how many of the sides he has scored against in that time can you name?
We’re giving you a generous seven minutes to name as many as you can, but add a warning: some of them are very hard indeed. Don’t forget to send a screenshot of your score to @FourFourTwo to show off your excellent knowledge.
